Wedding Timeline Guide
So You’re Engaged. Now What? This article offers a brief overview of what you need to prioritize while planning your wedding. Individual circumstances vary and as a result, I have chosen to keep the topics broad so that you can use this as a guide to plan in a way that works no matter how long your engagement may be. Enjoy your read!
1. Soak it all up!
Congratulations! You just got engaged and YOU’RE GETTING MARRIED! Before telling anyone, bask in this milestone moment. Enjoy this time with your partner before announcing the exciting news.
2. Let your loved ones know!
Try your best to make sure the people closest to you know before posting anything on social media. Give some thought to who you would like to be in your wedding party. After sharing with those in your closest circle, announce your engagement on social media if you wish!
3. Choose a date
Choose a date that works well for you, your partner, and your families. If you are set on getting married at a particular venue, consult with the venue before choosing your date.
4. Pick & book your venue
Speak with your partner and decide where you’d like to get married. Think about what style and size wedding you would like to have. There are so many amazing wedding venues in Missouri, Illinois, and all around. You can even get married in your own backyard!
5. Send out save the dates
Now that you’ve determined your date and location, send out save the dates through mail or virtually to ensure that everyone can make arrangements so that they can attend your wedding.
6. Hire vendors
Next it’s time to meet with and hire vendors. Consider hiring a wedding photographer, videographer, florist, DJ, band, wedding planner, day of coordinator, bartender, and whoever else you may need! There are fantastic wedding vendors in Columbia, MO. Among some of my favorite wedding vendors in Missouri are Ophelia’s Flowers, Flour Power by Trish, Vows Bridal Boutique, A1 Party Rentals, and of course, Liv Strange Photography.
7. Choose your wedding wear
Now for the fun stuff! Go play some dress up. Whether you are into the traditional wedding dress, a power suit, or something a little more casual, this is your moment to showcase your style and personality. As for wedding dresses in Columbia, MO, I recommend checking out Vows Bridal Boutique or Breeze. Once you have secured your outfit, start planning out outfits for your wedding party.
8. Vows
As your wedding day approaches, speak with your partner and decide whether or not you’d like to write your own vows. We did on our wedding day and have ZERO regrets!
9. Go get Married!!
Time to celebrate! No doubt the moments leading up to the !!FIRST!! kiss of your marriage will be filled with anticipation and excitement. It’s totally normal to feel nervous before the big event. Just be sure to soak up every moment. Happy planning!!
